Location: Southfield Civic Center Arena, 26000 Evergreen Rd., Southfield, Michigan
Cost: FREE
About: The goal of our 11th Annual Great Lakes Bat Festival is to spread the message that bats are critical to ecosystems around the world and to encourage their protection. This year’s festival is also a part of our Year of the Bat celebration series.

Discover the importance and uniqueness of bats in a fun and interactive environment.

The festival features live bat programs, live nocturnal animal exhibit, educational exhibits, bat-themed activities for kids, story time, and presentations by bat experts from around the Great Lakes region. There will also be research updates on White-nose Syndrome, a disease that has killed over 5.7 million bats. Come learn about bat houses, meet authors of bat books, and visit the Bat Zone. A great line-up of excellent speakers includes Janell Cannon (author/illustrator of the award-winning book “Stellaluna”).

Presentations, live animals, hands-on activities, crafts for kids, and exhibits will provide a full day of fun and environmental education. And the event is totally FREE!
