Live Bat Programs with Director Rob Mies

Join Rob Mies, T.V. personality, conservation biologist, bat expert, author, and Executive Director of the Organization for Bat Conservation, as he speaks about the benefits of bats and other wildlife, the need for conservation, and the methods we can use to protect biodiversity. Animals are presented in a way that will entertain, educate, and engage.

Live Bat Encounter
Hear Rob speak about the benefits of bats, the need for conservation, and what can be done to help these unique mammals. Join him as he invites you to step into the mysterious world of bats and explore their lives, habitats, and nocturnal strategies. Encounter a Big Brown bat from North America and hear its high-pitched echolocation with a “bat detector;” meet fruit bats from Africa and Asia; and come face-to-face with the largest bat in the world, a Malayan Flying Fox! This beautiful bat has a 6-foot wingspan!

Biodiversity and You
Rob speaks about traveling the world to discover the truly unique and sometimes strange life forms that inhabit our planet. Learn about ecosystems, how animals are connected, the risk to biodiversity from human activities, conservation success stories, and things everyone can do to protect wildlife from extinction. Encounter a Flying Squirrel, Striped Skunk, Barred Owl, Bearded Dragon, and a Two-toed Sloth.
